Diaz says photographer tried to run her over

· posted by hannah on september 20th, credit: MSNBC

LOS ANGELES - Cameron Diaz filed a police report Wednesday accusing a photographer of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly driving his car at her, police said.

Diaz and her boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, were leaving a friend’s home in Hollywood just after midnight Wednesday when a photographer who had been hiding in the bushes jumped out and tried to snap a picture of the pair, said police Officer April Harding.

The couple chased the photographer “a short distance,” she said.

“The photographer got into his car and drove toward Diaz and Timberlake, causing Diaz to jump out of the car’s way,“ Harding said.

No one was immediately arrested and no suspects have been identified.

"The investigation is in its initial stages," Harding said.

A law that took effect this year holds photographers who engage in criminal behavior to get a picture liable for three times the damages they cause, plus loss of any profits the published photo might generate.

According to the photo agency, this is what went down:

We caught the lovebirds arriving to party in the Hollywood Hills last night and when they saw our photographers, Justin went crazy. Cam had to restrain him from doing who-knows-what our photogs -- he was apparently trying to grab our guy's camera and was yelling at him to get away and to stop shooting pix, though the scene was on public property (in the street).

Then Justin's mom, Cameron, Justin's cousin and business partner Trace and some of the rest of their entourage joined in and our photog retreated. Apparently that wasn't good enough -- the pair have apparently filed a police report. Geez, sorry -- what ever happened to a smile and a wave?!

"FutureSex" Sells for Justin!!!

Justin Timberlake’s reward for bringing back the sexy: his first number one album.

On the heels of "SexyBack" becoming his first solo Hot 100 chart-topper, the reformed Mouseketeer capped a banner month by moving nearly 685,000 copies of his sophomore album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures for the week ended Sunday. That marks the biggest sales week of Timberlake’s solo career, the biggest sales week of the year by a solo artist and the second-biggest debut of 2006, behind only Rascal Flatts’ 722,000-copy first week for Me & My Gang.

Timberlake’s new album, which helped bounce Beyonce’s B’Day down two spots to three (161,000), also went number one in the U.K., Canada, Ireland, Australia and Singapore and opened Top 5 in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Holland, France, Denmark and Hong Kong. FutureSex/LoveSounds also set the record as the iTunes Store’s biggest pre-order album ever and as the biggest selling digital album ever, with nearly 67,000 copies sold via download.

As a member of ’N Sync, Timberlake claims the all-time biggest sales week, with 2000’s No Strings Attached moving 2.4 million copies; its follow-up, 2001’s Celebrity, moved 1.9 million first-week in second place. Timberlake’s inaugural solo offering, 2002’s Justified, debuted at number two with 439,000 in sales before going on to sell 3 million copies in the U.S. and winning two Grammys.

Though no competition for the top spot, John Mayer’s Continuum still made a strong showing, selling nearly 300,000 copies at number two. His previous studio album, 2003’s Heavier Things, debuted at number one with slightly higher sales, 316,000 copies, while his 2001 debut, Room for Squares, was a sleeper hit that didn’t chart initially. Both albums went multiplatinum and earned Mayer a total of three Grammys.

With so many new releases and Timberlake’s enormous debut, album sales for the week--over 10 million total copies--are up 6 percent from last week and up nearly 1 percent from the same week in ’05. Still, year-to-date sales are down 5 percent compared to this time last year.

FutureSex/LoveSounds is not only becoming a commercial success, but has also garnered universal praise from critics nationwide.

The Los Angeles Times (September 11, 2006) "*** 1/2 ... When Justin Timberlake's sophomore disc debuts at No. 1 on the chart next week, the Beatles era will officially be over. It's been coming for a while, with the rise of hip-hop and the relegation of most rock to the sidelines in terms of innovation. But Timberlake, who started out as part of a prefab Fab Five during the last gasp of Beatle-esque teeny-bop, means to ring in a new paradigm. ... "

USA Today (September 11, 2006) "*** 1/2 out of four ... Timberlake comes into his own as an artist ... "

People Magazine (September 18, 2006) "**** ... On this exhilarating follow-up ... he's more innovator than imitator ... "

The New York Times (September 11, 2006) "The new Justin Timberlake album is sure to be one of the year's biggest releases ... "

Time Magazine (September 18, 2006) " ... On his second solo album ... he goes about his task with the energy, hooks and heavy breathing expected of someone aiming to be pop's seducer in chief. SexyBack is a grinding, stuttering classic ... "

FutureSex/LoveSounds was co-written by Justin Timberlake and the smash single "SexyBack featuring Timbaland" was co-produced and co-written by Justin Timberlake. Additional producers on the album include JAWBreakers, Timbaland and Rick Rubin.

FutureSex/LoveSounds debuts at #1 in the UK, Ireland, and Australia!

· posted by hannah on september 18th, credit - The Justin Timberlake Street Team

In the UK, Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds album sold 90,985 copies last week to debut in pole position, following introductory single SexyBack’s number one success. Timberlake’s debut solo album Justified made a quieter debut, at number six on sales of 38,842 in 2002, but topped the chart for the first time 11 weeks later, and eventually spent seven weeks at number one in four separate spells, selling 1,789,780 copies. 100K is Gold in the UK, so he should be certfied gold by next week. He’s already certified silver (60K).

In Australia, he’s already certfied Gold (35K), but ARIA’s charts only account for about 50% of sales now, so he’s likely sold enough to be platinum or more (70K+). That’s actually what happened with SexyBack.

In Ireland, Justin Timberlake debuts at No1 on this week’s Album Chart with his second solo album `Futuresex/Lovesounds’, becoming the first artist of 2006 to top the Irish Singles and Album Charts in the same week – and the first since Westlife performed the same feat with `You Raise Me Up’ and `Face To Face’ back in November 2005. In contrast, his debut solo release `Justified’ came in at No24 and took 12 weeks to reach No1 in February 2003.

Justin’s Memphis

· posted by hannah on september 12th

A "Good Morning America" national salute to Justin Timberlake will begin with a Tuesday segment, "Justin’s Memphis," as a prelude to his live Friday broadcast from Beale Street. The ABC-TV show’s spokesman, Bridgette Maney in New York, said production crews have filmed segments that include Timberlake walking on Beale Street, visiting his school and baking a blueberry crisp pie with his grandmother.

Those segments are tentatively scheduled to air during the 8 a.m. segment of the show’s 6-9 a.m. Tuesday broadcast. The Tuesday segment will serve as a promo for Friday’s show in which Timberlake will debut his new CD, Future Sex/Love Sounds, during a live broadcast from a Beale Street stage. The album’s official release date is Monday, but the single "Sexy Back" has been the No. 1 Billboard hit single for the last two weeks.

Maney said the Friday segment of the show is scheduled to air 7:30-8 a.m. with "Good Morning America" co-host Robin Roberts and weatherman Sam Champion in Memphis for the live broadcast. Co-host Diane Sawyer will not be in town for the show.

Maney said anyone who wants to watch Friday’s live segment should arrive on Beale by 5 a.m. Show producers may want to line up brief interview segments in advance.

Attending Timberlake’s live concert is free. Parking arrangements are still being worked out. Center City Commission board chairman Rickey Peete said parking will be available on the street and in nearby garages at FedExForum and Peabody Place. "I have encouraged them to reduce their prices for that day," Peete said, but he said specifics have not been determined. He said the city is looking into possible bus shuttle service to and from parking lots at The Pyramid. "The show is a great opportunity for Memphis," he said.

Film Commissioner Linn Sitler said "Good Morning America" chose Beale Street as site of the live broadcast after visiting several Memphis locations including the Mud Island Amphitheater. Lighting for the early morning broadcast and public accessibility went into the choice.
